About us

The Townsville Business Challenge had its inception in 1993 by a group of business houses here in Townsville primarily getting together monthly between March & August for business networking and sporting events. The original group focus was a Golf Challenge event culminating in tours to Laguna Keys in the Whitsundays and then to Port Douglas. The group initially comprised of 20 individual members. In 2023 we welcome additional members growing our supporter base to over 40 local business houses.

For the past 15 years, the group has extended its focus and linked into raising awareness of Men’s Health issues and in particular the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. Over $150,000 has been raised from the years of support and donated. In 2022 & 2023 we also extended our support to the Heart Foundation of Australia supporting the Dale Nofz Memorial Golf Day at Townsville Golf Course and also Ronald McDonald House Charities North Australia and taking an “Adopt-a-Room” sponsorship. We know that this support is helping both local groups as well as local families across Northern Australia.

For the past 2-years, the group has undertaken a major fundraising initiative organising a Gala Dinner. In 2021, we welcomed 150 guests to the inaugural event at The Ville and in 2022 this increased to 300 guests. The event allowed the group to have a designated focus of raising more awareness on the impact that Prostate Cancer has in Australia and in particular the local community. Both of these events have been successful and extremely well supported.

In 2023, we celebrate our 30th  year in supporting the Townsville community. We look forward to undertaking our monthly fundraising events throughout Townsville & Magnetic Island, culminating with a celebration in the Hunter Valley, NSW. The year’s highlight will once again be our Gala Dinner that will be hosted at The Ville on Saturday 18^th November. We look forward to welcoming guests and supporters at this event.
