About Us

The Townsville Business Challenge was established in 1993 by a small group of local business leaders who came together to build strong business relationships through regular networking and sporting events. What began with a focus on a golf challenge has grown into a well‑respected local group supporting both business connection and meaningful community causes across Townsville and North Queensland.

Today, the Townsville Business Challenge represents a supporter base of more than 40 local business houses who meet regularly between March and August to network, participate in fundraising activities, and strengthen ties within the local business community.

Over the past 15 years, the group has placed a strong emphasis on men’s health, with particular support directed to the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia. Through sustained fundraising efforts over this period, the Townsville Business Challenge has donated approximately $250,000 to health and community causes, helping to raise awareness, fund research, and support individuals and families within our region.

In addition to prostate cancer initiatives, the group has expanded its charitable support to include organisations such as the Heart Foundation of Australia, Ronald McDonald House Charities North Australia, and other local memorial and community fundraising events. These partnerships provide direct, practical support to families across Northern Australia and reflect the group’s commitment to making a positive local impact.

A key highlight in recent years has been the introduction of the annual Gala Dinner, bringing together members, sponsors, and the wider community while significantly increasing fundraising capacity. Alongside monthly events held throughout Townsville and Magnetic Island; these initiatives continue to play a vital role in supporting local charities.

The Townsville Business Challenge remains focused on fostering strong business connections, supporting trusted community organisations, and providing opportunities for members to give back in a meaningful, collaborative way.

Our Purpose

The purpose of the Townsville Business Challenge is to connect local business leaders while championing men’s health and delivering meaningful outcomes for our community.

We exist to bring businesses together through shared experiences, using our collective strength to raise awareness, funds and support for men’s health initiatives, particularly those addressing prostate cancer and related health challenges facing men and their families across North Queensland.

Through regular events, purposeful fundraising, and trusted partnerships, we aim to reduce stigma, encourage early detection, and contribute to improved health outcomes, while fostering strong and enduring business relationships within the Townsville community.
